The Big Room
The one week show will be occupying the gallery space with reference to the recent
‘Occupy Bristol’ on College Green opposite the Parlour Showrooms.
The audience will be invited to contribute ideas and thoughts to the project which
will build and develop over the week.
Foundation students from Weston College will be building a monument space that
collects hopes, aspirations and ideas for the future. The collected ideas will be
translated into artworks through Sculpture, Film, Photography and Projection.
This seemingly impossible endeavour, which embraces a democratic and utopian
ideal, references Vladimir Tatlin’s Constructivist Tower whose aspirations were
doomed to fail but whose inspiration has long since continued.
