Tom Murlis

In the last three years, photography has become an inspiration and a compulsory part of my life. Until I started college, my only appreciation and understanding of art had been making messes out of clay pots and scribbling with biros. I soon became completely fascinated with cameras, and how they worked. The mechanisms, timings and precision of the instruments. After a few short weeks, the subject that had started as just a hobby quickly escalated, engulfing my other subjects, turning into a creative desire, a desire for film, printing, dodging, burning, and recording points in time. I realised that photography was the only thing that stayed with me, that overcame the walls I had faced with expressing emotions, and became my outlet of self expression, through which I could show the world who I was.
